Hi Guys, me again.
Is the 2007 CL500 a W216? I found one with one previous owner, 30,000 miles, FSH, forward IR camera and all the other standard toys for 23K. It's so very nice and I just have to get it but, before I do, what do I need to be aware of? Now all the guru's on this sight are always ready to impart their wisdom so cummon guys, lets have the info.:D

I do own such a car and the same year, I have everything other than the reverse camera, fast car and it will leave a pre 06-06 SL500 in the rear view mirror, much better on fuel too.

Now you have to be careful when these are advertised with all extras, for in most cases they are just standard, I have 19 options on mine and its best to get the VIN number and we can tell you for sure

I don't have the VIN but I do have a registration number. Will that work? When I say extra's I mean things like, soft close doors, powered boot lid, satnav, blue tooth, heated and ventilated seats, reverse camera. I think that's about it. I'm sure a pile of that is standard stuff and I may have missed a few. Drives really nice and is definitely more spirited. Steering feels lighter than the 06 version and ride may be a tad sportier/firmer. Smoother and quieter though. And prettier, I think.

The main options are or were.
Distronic
AMG body kit
Rear blind
HK sound system
Comfort seats
Ventilated cooled seats
Dynamic seats
Night vision
Leather Nappa
Wood steering wheel
Television
Keyless go
Rear head rest
Telephone
Lingaretronic
Dual cup holder
Tyre pressure loss warning
DAB radio

AMG 20" alloys

This applies to all the early ones, as the year go by some of the above became standard in 2010 with the face lift and the 7g plus fitted

Soft closing doors

They are a fabulous car,,so quiet and smooth, very good on fuel.

for me it may sound daft but you can operate all of the passenger seat from the drivers side, and a real boon for us

Aah, great, thanks for the input. OK, it has some but not all of those options and the standard bits, of course. I still like it so I think I'm going to get it. Thursday or Friday is the day I can pick it up. So now, all I have to do is plot a nice drive for the week-end. :)

Hi Guys. Well, I picked up the W216 today. 31,146 on the clock and was serviced by Mercedes Sheffield at 30,000. Drives like a dream. With toys to keep me occupied for days and days. The difference between this and a W215 is amazing. Totally different cars. The engine is smoother, quieter and definitely livelier. I filled it to the brim in Rotherham and drove back to Birmingham via the motorway. Not far. About 75 miles in all and parked at home the fuel gauge hasn'r budged. ( Time will tell how good or bad it is) Obsidian black with a black interior. Not my first choice but it isn't bad at all. And the toys are amazing. Reversing camera, rear blind, IR front camera. PDC, TV, Harmon Kardon sound. Massaging, heated and ventilated seats. The only downside is a space saver spare wheel. I hate those things. And, if you do get a puncture, what do you do with the flat wheel. If you are on a trip with family and luggage, there is no room to put the flat wheel. Then again, I haven't had a flat in the last 5 yeras or so, so I guess I shouldn't give it another thought. AMG wheels and body kit is not too bad either.
I'll try and do some pics this weekend but don't hold your breaths.
For all you folks out there thinking about a W216. Go and drive one, you will be totally hooked. It is just a fantastic drive. Bear in mind that this is the CL500. I shudder to think what the 600 or 63 is like. I think I am now going to be a Merc driver/owner for the rest of time.
Tonight I will sleep with a permanent smile on my face. Whew!!!!
