Hi there on my 09 c220 I have different tyres sizes on front and back (which were on wrong) someone I know said the rims may be different sizes

I’ve noticed the wheel bolts in the front go in further then the ones on the back is this right or are They wrong?

Hello and welcome,

You may well have a staggered setup - wider but lower profile tyres on the rear of the car.

What size tyres do you have?

Overall diameter of the fronts and rears should be the same.

You have a staggered wheel set up which is very common on Mercedes.
The wheel bolts don't go in too far at the rear or they would foul the parking brake shoes which sit behind the disc.

225 45 17 front
245 40 17 rear

Only ask as both 245 were on the left of the car when I brought it so wouldn’t have thought they would have swapped the correct wheel bolts with them

Seriously the 245 40s were on the near side and the 225 45s on the offside? That must have handled ....interestingly

Those sizes are good as long as wide on the back...

The wheel bolts should all be the same.

I would be stripping all the wheels of the car and checking you have the right tyres on the right rims:

The front wheels should be 7.5 x 17" ET47 fitted with 225/45 R17
The rear wheels should be 8 x 17" ET58 fitted with 245/40 R17

The tyres are correct i asked about the wheels as thought maybe how the wheel bolts are would give me an indication without taking the tyres off

The tyres may be in the correct corner but are they on the right size wheel???

The wheel bolts will give you no indications at all as they are all the same

Thanks I do believe the wheels were powder coated recently and the tyres were on the wrong sides to start with

Is there markings of the size on the inside of the rim ?

I have checked the back wheels and they are 8.5 17 I haven’t checked the fronts but at least they seem correct
