2008 CL500 Door Mirrors

I've recently Sorned my CL500 but regularly put a Ctec charger on it. Recently, my mirrors have failed to fold out when I start the car up so I'm wondering if I've got a blown fuse.
Please help !

Are you charging both batteries?

Dead mirrors might be down to worn cable, after 15 years of folding in and out, they can wear out the tiny wires inside.

No, I don't even know where the other battery is except that it's somewhere in the boot (I think). I thought charging the starter battery would somehow connect to the other.

If you have the smaller battery under the bonnet and the large 95ah In the boot, it will look like this, I have highlighted the connections needed to charge the rear battery, be sure to set the charger to AGM mode, as the rear battery is AGM

It could be that I suppose but the car's only done ~50K miles.

Tends to be age related because the plastic dielectric becomes hard/brittle over time

I had the same problem. What I had forgotten was that I had folded the mirrors in with the button on the drivers door! Worth a check.

To my knowledge the charger should be attached to the auxiliary battery in the boot. Even if not used for 5 days, flick the charger on.

Well that's an excellent post thanks - I've now got her on charge with my CTek - photo shows state after 4 hours on the charger.

If AGM, get the lids off and try a fill with de-ionised water then try and charge again

Thanks Blobcat ... I'm getting a new battery ... can't afford to break down considering my wife's ill health.

Well I've had a new battery fitted and now the problem has resolved itself i.e. the door mirrors are working correctly. So is everything else except all the controls on this lot:

I'm thinking maybe I've blown a fuse when I was messing about trying to get the mirrors unfolded ? Any help will be much appreciated.
