I wonder if anyone can give me some advice please? Help!
Do I get a genuine or pattern spring?
Should I change a pair?
Is there a good independent in the Brighton or Eastbourne area?
Many thanks for any information.

Bert

Merc only using the colour codes of the old spring, otherwise it will never sit right again, if one has snapped then the other is the same age, say no more.......

Its such a common fault now days the dealers stock most springs as do we...

I might put a coat of paint on my new ones when they next break,
As they inevitably will.

Mine sits perfectly on its non-OEM front springs! So it can be done. :)

I reverted to them when I got fed up with the OEM ones breaking. 8-year-old car, on at least its third set now...

Longevity remains to be seen, admittedly, but they are now more than 1/3 of the way through the OEM life expectancy (bit less than 3 1/2 years on average).

You have a point I had one none OEM spring fitted to get me moving some years ago and my car sits square.
I forgot about it till I read this thread.
MB springs don't have a reputation for longevity anyway,
Do any ?

Thanks to all of you indeed. I leveraged some discount from Mercedes-Benz, the story ends with a pair being replaced for £250 all in. The job is 1.8hrs book time, the springs retail at £50 + vat a side. It doesn't feel like they've had my trousers down.:)

At the risk of sounding like a scratched record, no Jaguar I have either had or still got, or indeed heard of, has ever needed replacement springs.

My fathers XJ6 needed a coupe of rear springs and a front
