Hi All

I have a spare car I like to do some work on when time allows.
I have a very standard 200E Petrol and have almost everything working
as it has very little electrics,no sunroof or Elc windows ,a lot less to go wrong someone once said !!!
The car has the old non metallic paint red/maroon and it has a very poor
quality it looks great when Wet !!!
I tried TCutting with a hell of a lot of elbow grease and it improved but not
good now , any suggestions other than a full respray in metallic :p
Thanks

You need something a bit stronger than T-cut to remove the whitish scum on the paintwork, try mixing some compound ( G3, G6, or even G7) with the T-cut.. G7 contains ammonia and needs to be taken off fairly quick, but it cuts better.. next stage is T cut on its own or you can use it mixed with some paraffin / heating oil for an enhanced shine, finally finish with a good quality carnauba wax..
Also check out one of the Detailing World Forums for some polishing tips
You could also try Color Magic (red) after the T cutinng

Never recommend the use of a mop to anyone who has never used one, they will always do more damage than good..........and end up needing a repaint

Red is the weakest colour in the spectrum, it will even change colour under the top clear coat, this is further aggravated by the heat under the bonnet making the colour change

60 euro for a litre of G6.... Its around £20 per Lt. for farecla..one of the best polishes out there.. Where are you..Ireland I reckon... You surely must know someone who is heading up north and will get it for you at a keen price,,

Thanks Malcolm,
That reminds me I need to renew the bonnet padding what do you recommend
it has completely disintegrated from both cars

The OE parts cost £80 each,,if you are nor worried about keep it original you can do much better with an after market sound deadening dense foam, and self adhesive too fro a fraction of the price
