Hi all,
Weird thing just occurred, help or advice would be appreciated!
Car was warm, had done approx 15miles. Stopped, put roof up, locked up and dived in to Morrisons for a bit shopping.
Came out 20mins later, unlocked car, jumped in, nothing! No live electrics, no Comand screen nowt... Confused. Locked unlocked it, same thing.. I then pressed the "on" button on the Comand, everything came alive and all fired up no bother, drives perfect again...odd. Now Darenth switch off til I get home!! Any clues?

Total guess , but try using your other key .
Do you have a lot of weight/other keys hanging on the car key when it’s in the ignition ?

I would have thought it would be electrical in origin or as above a problem with the ignition switch. Possibly a failing brake light switch? Don't know where you live but it lathered it down with a thunderstorm up here in the North West yesterday so if it was the same where you are it could have been a problem with water ingress somewhere. You may get to the bottom of it with a diagnostic tool if this keeps happening.

Thought of that ref trying the spare but fault had disappeared by then and both keys seem fine and start it every time. No weight on keys at all. Odd that the thing that woke it all up was hitting the ON button on the Comand console while ignition was at stage one.

All a bit odd, been faultless since! Am in the North East, we had biblical rain too but the ****** thing gets pressure washed twice a week so water ingress is unlikely and hadn't driven through any standing water. ****** things haunted!

Could be low battery or key weight in your key as wighty says, same happened to me just after I got my E cab. If batt is poor it won't disengage the immobiliser but you will still be able to use command and stereo. Could be coincidence that command woke it up. A small gap may have squeezed just a bit more from the key battery to do the biz with the immobiliser. I would change batteries in both your keys as a precautionary measure and monitor. If little red light illuminates on the key on pressing, it indicates failing battery.

Regards rain, check your wiper drain holes as if blocked, water will pool in front scuttle drivers area and dribble over the front seal right on to the fuse area under the bonnet. It is worth checking regularly and get your washer right in there!

Both keys do indeed plip red when any buttons are pressed so we may have solved it, ta very much, how simple is that! Can I just change the key batteries or will they need reprogramming after?

Thanks for advice so far guys, fresh 2025's in both keys.
It's done it again! Everything fine, stopped on double yellows to use ATM, wouldn't start and no electrics!! No sign of any warning lights, 2 hours later, it just fired again off the key no bother!
Help!

Star diagnostics needed perhaps, this can show stored or current faults ;)

How old is the car main battery I’ve known them to fail to earth and then come back to life when they cool down?

Thanks for that, will check that and drop test it.
Surely if that was the issue I wouldn't have been able to unlock the car or pop the Comand on? I seem to get 1st point ignition electrics, Comand, etc But not 2nd stage, windows, fans.... blah blah. ! Am guessing either ignition switch or some dodgy wiring somewhere that will take forever to track, yeay!!

A good auto electrician should be able to sort this out. Elecktrickery in modern cars is a nightmare. In my old stuff there's no electrical problem that can't be solved with a voltmeter and a bit of wire.

We need to rule out the immobiliser.
If there is a fuse for the immobliser, I would start by cleaning/replacing that fuse.

Maybe they should and evaluate the situation before doing their business, best laid plans and all that
