2011 E Class 350D Convertible
I was just about to sell my E 350d 2011 convertible and started getting this message. Went to a local independent dealer today who ran a diagnostic on it and confirmed that the seat sensor pad was faulty. The part i need is 2078700610 but apparently Mercedes have discontinued it. Seems to be some emulator things on ebay but seems a bit dodgy. Want to get the car sold asap anyone got any ideas on what options i may (or may not) have?

Have you tried a Mercedes breaker like Dronsfields for a seat pad sensor?

Have you tried MB themselves, pumped the number in ebay?

Hello iand123. I changed the same sensor on my e cab 2010 model 2 or 3 yrs back. You will find a post on here. Relatively straightforward aside of some sore fingers! The sensor was less than £50 from MB Grangemouth. You will even get a discount if you mention this forum! The car is still a 'recent' model in my eyes so I doubt they have discontinued the part already, though I guess it is possible. Emulators may work but in safety terms, your car won't be as intended so be wary. Find a good indy to look at this for you if you're not confident doing it yourself.

Thanks, have since had it confirmed by another Mercedes garage that the part is now obsolete and can’t be bought from MB any longer, which is a right pain. Doesn’t seem to be much option other than the emulator

Hope you soon get it sorted - a bit concerning that MB aren’t maintaining parts availability beyond 10 years

That is frustrating, yes most concerning that such a key part isn't available anymore. Almost puts one off having another MB but likely other manufacturers are going the same way. Cars are not keepers anymore! I think I need another Triumph Dolomite, simple, cheap and reliable! Good luck on sorting it, maybe let us know how it goes! Plus, the warning light on is also an MOT failure. If the light isn't on already, it will be!

I had an argument with mb last week over the availability of an ecu, for a 2013 car. I complained that its a bit crap that its NLA,

and their comment was "well, it is nearly 10 years old"........

I said, if somebody said your car cannot be driven because the part is unavailable, and you said "well it is nearly 10 years old" you would be ****ed off!

Ridiculous

Yeah it’s a joke, basically renders the car much less valuable and is a safety issue
