My ML has just decided that it's going to start dripping oil onto the driveway.

The thing is I can't see where from.

I can't see any leak from looking from the top of the engine, and can't see underneath with the under tray in place.

Bit of a stab in the dark, any ideas before I get a garage to investigate?

Could be oil cooler seals from within the V of the engine , if you look below and behind the turbo with a torch can you see oil

Sounds expensive?

It is I believe a couple of quid for the two rubber seals and 8 hours labour . If it is this you defo want an MB Indy who knows the job to do it .

Would you recommend any decent indies near Ashford in Kent?

If it is that the oil will drop from the rear of the engine undertray.

As has been said 2 £5 seals and 6-8 hours labour, mine was done in Jan 19, also had loads of other little bits replaced as may as well while all that has been removed

my ML350 oil leak was simply that a MB tech hadn't tightened the sump plug up properly o_O

lucky u found that ,bet benz would have denied liability for that falling out , fortunately for me never happened and by coincidence have never let anyone else tighten the thing,or much else .

Smart + others :)
Get the oil cooler changed as well, these have leaked in-the past, esp given the amount of work involved.

It was still under warranty at the time. I just took it back to MB when I found oil on my drive. I can't remember their exact words but, reading between the lines, the sump plug was loose

Bit of a trek for me.
True he’s an hour away , hope you find another MB Indy closer , but you do need someone who has done the job before :D . Good luck , let us know how you get on

If you go on YouTube and search om642 oil cooler seals , you can see what is involved . Of course it may not be what we are all guessing , maybe get your local garage to look for the leak first on a ramp with the under trays off

As an update, I took the ML to the guy in Ashford who has done some work on my Jag and he diagnosed the oil cooler seals.

He quoted me £625 (including parts) to do the work. So he got the job.
Whilst there he did front and rear pads for me.

Just got the car back and a bill for £803.55 and the work guaranteed for 12 months.

Never nice to shell out 800 quid but not too shabby compared to what it could be.

Hopefully that will be the end of the leak.
