Hi, my 2011 C class, 2.2 diesel, auto, has a vibration at about 1500 rpm. Has anybody had this before and what is the solution? Thanks in advance

Probably need a bit more info to make an educated guess. But you could start by looking at engine/gearbox mounts (looking is free) :)

Sorry, been away.
The vibration is at 1,500 rpm when putting the engine under load, for example, on a level stretch of road, top gear, 1,500 rm all good and smooth, if there is then a slight incline and more load is applied, then there is a vibration through the vehicle. If I then speed up the engine revs, it is possible to drive out of the vibration range.
It’s a bit like an unbalanced wheel, except it’s not road speed related, so not the wheels. Its engine rev related and engine load. I am suspecting prop shaft bearing or prop shaft coupling?

Engine mounts. Gearbox mounts. Possibly propshaft mounts or couplings.
A good indy should find the issue in minutes.

If you're in neutral and you rev, does it do it then? If so, its likely a GB or Engine mount, if it doesn't, I suspect it'll be a prop shaft donut mount or the coupling itself.

Hi, no it doesn’t do it in neutral, only in drive

Yah, definitely sounds like a prop shaft problem then, the donut mounts aren't too expensive to get sorted if I remember rightly, the part is around £100 and it should take an hour or less to do after getting the under tray out the way. Not sure about the cost of a coupling, I doubt it would be coupling though as, a loose/damaged coupling would make itself know throughout the rev-range.

Update on my ongoing issue: I had the prop shaft bearing and coupling checked out, no issues. Independent Mercedes specialist thinks it’s the gear box. Took it to a gearbox specialist and he thinks it could be the torque converter on its way out.
Prior to going to the gearbox specialist, I took the car to Austria and back, 1,300 mile round trip, and the car was as good as ever, performing well on the autobahns, and returning good fuel economy, apart from the vibration, or juddering, as the gearbox specialist calls it, which it only does in certain circumstances.
