2011 W207 E250cdi gearbox issues and DPF fault

Thanks for the add to the forum, Just bought a 2011 E250cdi coupe with 5g box. Was fine for a day or so, then drove 200 miles and engine light came on, on motorway fine , sat at 80mph all day an drove it to spain 1000 miles no probs ... except wouldnt downshift on hills and slowing to roundabouts etc. ,manual shift works fine but limited to 3k. if i stop at junction it will downshift and then go up through the gears but wont rev out above 3k, basically gutless ie limp mode but all gears work fine up to 3k in paddle shift etc up to 80 odd mph. my cheap OBD read blocked DPF and temp sensor faults, cleared them but still the same. faults came back pretty quick ie dpf blocked. disconnected battery , still the same. been using wynns dpf regen liquid in diesel for last day or so in vain hope it helps ! any help advice welcome , thanks

Me -2019 GLC 350 coupe AMG line. Mrs- 1.2 vauxhall Corsa 2021 ,orange with a black roof. .
The temp sensor controls when dpf does a regen. If it's broke then I guess no dpf regen will happen . So dpf fill levels rise.

Fix the sensor and chances are the rest will fix itself .

Had this same issue and turned out to be this sensor - symptoms were all the same as described by the OP.

DPF issue will result in some weird gearbox shifting (especially down shifts) until the EMLs cleared.

Great 1000 miles tru Spain n back and yet again sensor puts car into limp. Basically saying on modern cars that any Europe trip needs to include main dealer points in Yr GPS which guess is how benz want it. Something like that requires redundancy plan not just limit to 3 k rpm..
Ur going to have to check Yr wiring, plugs, sockets then prob replace sensor. Go for run on m way and see if it regens. If not you may need to get on system that will force regen.

thanks for the prompt reply , much appreciated. , i will get the temp sensor looked at . could you possibly give me a heads up as to exact location in reation to dp etc ? from you tube im guessing its the right end of the exhaust manifold , resistance check to see if faulty . ?

Yellow arrow apparently is the one to change . The red arrow is also a temp sensor of some kind.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will contribute .

update !! I went to drive the car this morning, put it in drive and just shuddered then stalled, took handbrake off tried again, did same thing 3 times, ? finally let me drive off. stopped and cleared all codes , so no yellow EML showing, drove for 60 miles at 80mph as hoping the wynns regneration fluid might be helping !! , still no light or fault codes yet still wont downshift until you come to a complete stop, also still restricted to 3k..

Your describing limp mode. Something isn't right and it's not the presence of a code. Needs a proper diagnosis to check what values are wrong.

plugged obd in and suddenly all went dead. car wont even start now. central locking works, dash shows basic info when key inserted, even radio etc comes on, but turn key to position 1 and 2 and nothing ! dead as a dead thing. wish id kept my 320 bmw now tbh. !

Maybe fuse blew when u plugged in . That if the case may help pin point issue to a particular circuit.

battery was low, too many starts on obd tests probably. charged battery and starts ok, dpf faults still to be sorted, will take to garage in week. as need decent diagnostic reading on dpf percentage etc. thanks for the replies
