Hello everyone, after a bit of advice. Last week or two the car has started to intermittently 'judder' just before coming to a halt, as though it's not quite dropping down through the gears smoothly and on occasion seems to be taking too long to move up a gear when accelerating. The B7 service message has come on since this started, but it feels more like a transmission fault? Although I'm no expert. At the moment there are no faults showing on the dashboard. I'm reluctant to fork out for the B7 service if it's got an underlying transmission fault.
Suggestions welcome, thanks Mark

What mileage has the car done and has it had a transmission service?

Hi Malcolm, it's done 112k. I've had the car about 3yrs, I've had an A service & B service done at local independent garage in that time, checked all the previous s/history as well but can't see anything about servicing/changing transmission oil previously. I'm guessing a transmission oil change/service is next course of action? Can the oil needing changing cause the symptoms I'm experiencing? Thanks again

It is the first course of action I think your 7 speed gearbox (I assume it is and not the 6 spd) was due at 75k miles so is way overdue.

yeah 7 spd, had just over 80k on when I bought it with supposedly FSH but I'm guessing now that the transmission service was missed.
Thankyou for your help, I'll take it into my local indie Merc garage and just hoping that service fixes the issue.

If it doesn’t fix the issue it could be a worn torque converter with the symptoms you mention - hopefully the service will fix it
