Hi guys

I’m sure this has been covered to death but couldn’t find the specific answers when searching.
My battery appears to have given up. To be honest I’ve been pushing my luck for a while, it’s been cranking pretty slow for some time, and the stop/start hasn’t worked since before Christmas.
I know buying batteries for cars these days can be a mine field so want to make sure I pick up the right one. It’s Mercedes part-no A0009822108, 80Ah, 800A. I keep seeing 2 options when searching online, 115AGM or 019AGM. Can’t see those codes on my current battery so wondered which one it is? Are there any brands to avoid? Also wanted to check if it’s safe to literally just swap old get new or will that mess up any setting with the car?

Many thanks
Steve

I had to do that on the missus’ Astra, but the computer tells you what to do..

Go to the dealer and get an original. They last a very long time.

Are they reasonably priced? I’ll give them a call later. Southampton Benz dealer only up the road, hopefully they’ll have one

Have a look on here https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteri...MI6-eSm47R6gIVyLHtCh2bYAbGEAQYAiABEgLZA_D_BwE
Input your reg to confirm the replacement then check the physical dimensions and terminal type and orientation your original is likely to be an MB branded Varta battery I wouldn't use anything but Varta or Bosch. MB Grangemouth would also be worth a call, they are forum supporters, you may need to reset some controllers if you disrupt power to your car during the battery change or you could maintain a power supply via your jump start connections with a 12vdc battery charger during the battery change.

When you say reset some controllers, do you mean like radio presets and any vehicle settings that you set through the car’s menu? I don’t mind having to redo that. Don’t have a spare battery or charger to keep a constant supply.

Yes, popular victims are as Dean mentioned above, door windows, door mirrors are another, the list is largely dependent upon model Years and accessories fitted, you may want to consider a smart battery charger, I would always confirm the existing charge in a new battery before fitting and top up as a matter of course anyway, a modern smart charger is also capable of 'Repairing' apparently failing batteries as well, look at Maypole, NOCO Genius and CTEK, start another thread on the forum about Smart Chargers and get more feedback from other forum members.

To be honest, I think I may have lost the settings already. The mirrors didn’t fold when I locked it, so will probably have to go through the whole thing... not a problem.
I’ll pass on the charger, the battery in there is probably the original from new, so has had a fair life. New battery won’t do any harm.

Just ordered one from the local dealer. Bit expensive but still way cheaper than ECP, even with the discount.
Also have peace of mind I’m getting the right one...
Will pick up lunchtime and fit later..

Thanks for replies ppl

Is it MB I assume, ask them nicely to fit it. I think they fit for free actually.

Really?? Not sure they’d all do that.
I don’t mind fitting it, changed a fair few in my time. Plus that car is dead so can’t drive it.

New battery fitted and all is good. I didn’t get any messages appear about windows etc, but I did them anyway, and the steering calibration. Strangely it remembered all the radio presets and sound settings.

Cheers

£240 inc vat. The old one has been superseded, so it’s a more up to date version, part no slightly different.
I know I could’ve got it cheaper online but I needed it quickly, and ECP want more than that for non genuine brands..

It is.. I could’ve got one from Halfords for just under £150. Actually the same one I put in the other half’s Astra only a few months ago.. same size and ratings.... But it’s Halfords

I did see that, but every time I put my reg in, it kept bringing up non AGM batteries. Didn’t fill me with confidence I’d be getting the right one. Plus I need my car tomorrow morning...
