Weren’t the codes cleared when the repairs were done? They’ll still be stored until cleared

Could be that, have you given it a nice, old fashioned Italian tune up? (When not in limp of course)

I’ve dropped it back to the garage that worked on it but what’s annoying me is it’s had £600 worth or parts and labour that’s been done through warranty and not the slightest bit different to when it first went there and obviously the problem is something else, not sure where I stand with the warranty as the work done hasn’t cured the car

If its dropping into Limp mode it must have a current code set. Likewise limp mode will always trigger a check engine light.

Whan you say Independent is it an MB independent specialist or a local garage?

Thing is it’s not bringing the engine light on and obv I only have a cheap diagnostic tool so doesn’t give full codes and yes it’s a idependant Mercedes specialist and all the reviews I’ve seen are good that’s why I took it too them

Probably a snapped inlet manifold bolt causing a loss of boost pressure, which is getting all the more common. That fault will throw up faults for the EGR system. Ideally you want a charge pressure test and then a smoke test to determine if it has an air leak.

I am surprised an Indie has missed this, with STAR you can test the EGR for opening and close.

Thank you Steve for your opinion just had a call from the garage and they have been test driving it the last two days and can’t get it to go into limp like it was with me, it wouldn’t put the light on but go into limp and bring up p0402 90% of the time but in pending codes. Obviously the work they’ve done hasn’t made a change to the problem
