Hi all,

Apologies for asking for help already!!! But I need to source a set of front brake pads for the 2012 E63 I’m taking ownership of in a few days.

The challenge is that I’m based in Doha, Qatar and the markup on parts is pretty extortionate not to mention difficult to get hold of due to supply chain issues!

I’m trying to source from the UK, but the Mercedes dealerships I’ve spoken to will not sell me brake pads as I will then ship outside of the EU (Some European political red tape). Unfortunately they could not even identify the part numbers as my vehicle was supplied from the US/Canada so their systems don’t recognise my chassis number.

I may have to pick up 3rd party manufactured ones (EBC maybe), but not sure how comfortable I’d feel about not going with OEM. Even with this option I’d still need to figure out which ones will fit.

Any ideas?

I’d be happy with EBC yellow stuff in your circumstances no problem (they don’t do red stuff for 63s mores the pity as I’ve used those before on my SL500 and they are great)

Do you know anyone in the UK that you could send them too and then get them to ship them out with UPS or similar?

Have a similar problem here as everything has a markup of nearly 46%. Unless it's a car then it's 75-120% depending on the car.:eek:

My family are still in the UK and I have an account with Aramex so shipping isn’t the problem. Getting hold of them though is proving difficult as they all want to confirm with reg number.

I’ve been quoted £400 for a pair of OEM brake pads here (supply only) but no idea if that’s reasonable comparing with UK prices or not.

Might be worth speaking to a specialist in the UK, explain your issue and see if they can give you the part no. you require. When you then phone the stealers just tell them you need the following part no. delivering to your family address.

The other thing to try is search on eBay. If you know the model year of the car then you can search for the brake pads from the Mercedes garages as a lot of them run eBay accounts.

Did the part number link I sent you help? Once you have the part number poke it in Google and see what comes back for prices.

What is the VIN? We can search part numbers with that. Even if its a US import.

Whats up with EBC
A guy I know, who I trust implicitly, got into a conversation with EBC’s Technical Director recently at a conference. Over a few drinks he was told that no matter what grade of pad, if they were running short of any particular batch for an order, they’d just top it up with some of another grade, so whatever colour pads one buys they’re almost always a mix of whatever’s on the shop floor.

Under the brakes section there appears to be multiple sets available, so I’m a little confused. Understand there are some that are ceramic, but even under the normal pads with red calipers, there are 2 different sets. If one is showing as replaced by, does that mean the newer pad will fit directly to the existing system?

Also need to check my assumption that this is the s212 model.
