I’ve had my car for 12
Months and am very happy with it, looks great and drives well but I would like a little more power occasionally and fuel consumption could be better ( I get an average of 30mpg) so I have booked it in for a remap with a well respected local tuning company, my question is has anybody remapped a 250 cdi and was it to your expectations?.

What is the remapper suggesting to you on power, torque (and mpg)!

I don't have one, but understood that there isn't a lot left in a 250cdi, but could be wrong....

UPDATE:
Just got back from having it mapped, very pleased it really has made a difference to performance
Dyno proved what they promised
BHP was 201bph now 248 bph
Torque was 500Nm now 597Nm
Regarding fuel consumption too soon to say but engineer said for a couple of weeks might not be fantastic because I will be testing the extra performance however when I eventually revert to normal driving I will see better consumption, we will see and I’ll report back.
Just off for a blast !!

Do keep an eye on the DPF. Thats quite a good but of power for one of those. We tend to find going over 240bhp and 570nm ish causes issues with exhaust backpressure and excessive regens.

Thanks for your imput I hope I don’t have any problems, it’s strange but in 13 months of ownership I have never noticed a re-gen ie raised revs or smell from the exhaust

The dyno is generous as they rarely actually begin anywhere near stock on an accurate dyno .
My take is the from Piezo injectors to Delphi magnetic solenoid .

Thanks Gaz , because I was happy with the figures but it seems that I should have taken it to you because you seem to be be more knowledgeable than an established company with a good reputation. Send me your details and I will bow to your professional knowledge and you can run it on your dyno.

I understand he is only sharing his experience. Nothing personal.

That's not my dyno it's GAD Tuning Ltd .

When my own went on a Dyno Dynamics elsewhere it made 183 bhp so very accurate and reflective of GAD's base results .

I’m not trying to rattle anyone’s cage but I was very happy with Viezu’s results and they are a well respected and experienced track and road tuner, I do hope that they are as good as they say and I don’t run into the problems Alex mentioned

I'm sure you will be fine, but if you do have phantom dpf problems where it seems to be "blocked" Id look at that first.

I’m also looking at remapping my 250cdi shooting brake as well. Been quoted the following results

Original Modified Difference
201bhp to 255bhp +54bhp
369lb/ft to 410lb/ft
Fuel save upto 10%

Also when you say Dyno, what does that specifically mean?

I've never seen 10% unless it's particularly bad, like a massive ml280cdi et

A Dyno is the rolling road equipment that actually measures the power and torque produced at the wheels. The only true way of knowing what the remap has achieved. GAD Tuning have lots of videos on YouTube showing their setup in action.

Fuel economy at the moment is really good but those are the figures I’ve been quoted.
