Today at GAD we had a lovely brand new C250 CDI in for a economy map. Through our bespoke ECU remapping techniques we both improved power and economy while keeping power delivery extremely smooth and refined.

We have worked on many 250 CDI lumps before and always forget how quiet they are on tick over.

We are to our knowledge one of the only bespoke remapping companies in the country who can offer a mapping service with out having to remove the ECU form the vehicle on this model. Full lines of communication via OBD2 port.

Visit GAD for more info on ANY model and engine variant from 1999.

Hi,

What can you do in terms of a power tune on the 250 cdi? I have a 13 plate coupe, done 10k now used to the power, need a little boost ;)

Does this type of tuning affect MBZ warranty?

Any info will be great

Thanks

Good evening,

The software cant be detected by main dealer software. Gains are 45-50 bhp and 95-100 nm of torque over standard management. They respond really well and also maintain there economy even after power tuning.

The beauty of this model is it runs Delphi management so we can access the ECU via OBD! No need to remove it.

with the 203 220 cdi, what is different between the 2 different engines that means 1 is 143BHP and the other 150 BHP? and can a 143 be mapped to match a mapped 150 output?

Slightly different engines OM611 143 bhp and OM646 150 bhp and also one is EDC15 and the other is EDC16 from a management point of view. Both vehicles we should be able to get around 40-45 bhp and 75-80 nm of torque over standard management.

I've been severely tempted by a remap as well on my C250 CDI.
I do a fair few miles and drive conservatively on my commute (save the fun for the weekend), what kind of an impact do the re-maps have on wear and tear/reliability?
Also, my car's just had it's first service, I've heard that when software updates come out they can reset the ECU back to the standard map?

This has always concerned me too. No doubt GAD will have a definitive answer. :)

Good evening,

This particular engine/management set-up responds very well to mapping! There are no issues with reliability as we have mapped a great number with not a single issue! There is always the possibility of manufactures updates writing over the software however we offer putting your mapped software back on your vehicle free of charge and more over we have not had a single one be written over yet! I am generally starting to think that its a myth from older ECU management systems (EDC15, EDC16 ect)

If you need anything else feel free to pop me an e-mail or post up on the forum.

Good morning,

We regularly get 250bhp from the 250CDI, however its the 220CDI which you can never achieve more than 210-215bhp as they are the same engine yes but the mapping tables are completely different and cannot run the same fuelling.

So is the only difference the fuel pump or other things between the 220 and 250?

Good evening,

It is something we have been trying to look into! It very well could be fuel pump or completely different injectors! I shall carry on researching!

I've read that the injectors are larger on the 250 vs. the 220 - at least, they can flow more fuel. Additionally the 2nd, larger turbo on the 250 is larger than the 2nd turbo on the 220, providing a little more high-rpm boost. The smaller turbo is the same on both 220 and 250, meaning low down torque and response should be similar.

Note by "larger" this could be the turbine and/or compressor side, so the Exhaust or Air side in other words.

Seems tricky to get exact details, but this is what I found after some googling. Originally, I'd planned to get the basic 220 thinking it could be mapped to near 250 levels, but this does not appear to be the case due to the aforementioned physical differences. In the end though I went for a 350 as I much preferred the less revy nature of its response, plus the epic 1,000 rpm pottering ability. Just a personal preference.

Scoob.
