Hi Everyone, I'm new here and to mercedes ownership. My car developed an intermittent fault of going in to limp mode but not throwing an EML up. It would normally clear it self by the next time I drove it. Lately that has happened more and more to the point it did throw and EML up. Had it checked out and done some research and the most likely cause was the dpf pressure sensor. So I picked a new one up from mercedes.

I had that fitted at a local garage today took out for approx 30mins and no EML and also my start/stop which had also stopped working has now started working again. So I can only assume that the new sensor has solved issues.

The only problem is that the car is still in limp mode. I did take it out again this time covered nearly 100 miles on motorway driving just incase it needed a regen or anything like that. No still the same.

Any help or advice would be amazing. I'm based in newport South Wales.

Any error codes otherwise we are guessing. Other cause is exhaust back pressure sensor , but there's a myriad of more reasons why. Checking live data is a gimme .

I have just plugged the car in to my little hand held obd and it comes up with P2463. Surely this would put the EML on? I know the garage said they had cleared the fault codes yesterday.

Did they adapt the new dpf sensor and is it certain its not the dpf that's full ?

Any live data for dpf sensor ?

I'm actually not sure as I had to drop the car and go and quickly pick it up as I was in work. Live data the other week showed the Ash and soot levels were in tolerance levels but the dpf level at the top was 300%. The new sensor must of had a positive impact for my light to go out and also start/stop to come back to life? So the sensor would need adapting would it? Is this one of those things that can only be done via star?

The light only comes on after 5 or 6 repetitive faults . Not sure how a dpf would affect stop start ?

I used an icarsoft scanner to adapt mine and check dpf sensor data which is around - 0.01 to +0.01 .

I have no idea, all I know is that when this all started the start/stop no longer came on, now its working again. If anyone is local to me with the right scanner would really appreciate them taking a look. I work for a funeral directors and we are flat out and I just haven't got the time to take the car anywhere.

Just a thought. I have RAC if I phoned them and told them the car has gone in to limp mode is this something they could/would do? If I pointed them in to the direction of re calibrating the sensor?

All sorted now mate, all thanks to your comment. Had it plugged in this evening and had the adaptations cleared and there we go all done and running spot on

Good stuff. it might come back again from pending if the car sees it again during repetitive cycles

Took the car for a good run straight after and it done hell of a regen judging by the back of the car today and the smell of it last night, looks like quite a thick layer of Ash over the rear end. After I got back last night the p2463 code had gone and car was showing no faults, so fingers crossed.
