Recently, after several long journeys where the start/stop system has kicked in, my engine has failed to start back up again, with no error messages or codes. Everything else about the car remains functional. This seems to have initially been resolved by just waiting and letting things cool down for about half an hour. I didn't get this looked into straight away as I was booked in at Mercedes for a recall on the NOX sensors with accompanying software update. Unfortunately after they have completed this work it failed one final time and the engine has refused to start at all.
I had the car towed to a local garage who have completed some checks on the starter but ultimately could not diagnose the problem. They brought in an auto electrician today and they have raised it as a serious problem with the start/stop system but have given no further details so far. The auto electrician has apparently been able to clear the issue temporarily so that the car will start, but I have been warned that if the start/stop system kicks in again it will cause the engine to be disabled once again. The garage have provisionally booked me in with Camco in Warrington for further diagnosis, with the alternative being a main Mercedes garage.
My questions are: Has anyone seen this before, if so what has been the resolution; and will I be in good hands with Camco or should I take it into a Mercedes garage?
