2014 mercedes E250 cdi amg sport mpg help

Can any1 tell me what your mpg is like on ypur merc e class 250cdi
I put £20 in it to get an idea compared to my other cars ive had i.e bmw 325d 3 litre msport £20 got me 150-170 miles,
This merc however £20 has got me 70 miles and is near empty possible 10-20 more left thats terrible for what i thought was supposed to be a great eco friendly car, i drive in eco mode and i drive slow everywhere mostly dual carriage ways and round town, i have notice start stop isnt working so susspecting battery is on its way out but can that cause worse fuel consumption?

Low temperature, low tyre pressure, town driving, lack of servicing, blocked air filter.

All of the above negatively affect fuel economy

Tyre pressure spot on, serviced every year at MB last one done a month ago, stressing me out i had a bmw M135i that was the same on fuel but was 400+hp i would have kept it if i would have known this was going to be not to great lol

Check that the thermostat is working properly ie, the car is running at 90 deg C, Mercedes stats are notorious for failing mine failed at 60k miles and the fuel consumption dropped to 20mpg

I find there is a big difference in mpg when you compare EU3 through to EU6 cars, not so much around town but certainly at touring speeds, my EU3 E320cdi (2000 reg) could achieve 50mpg and the best I can get out of my EU5 E350cdi (2012 reg) is 42mpg due to all the emissions apparatus strapped on

The BMW 325d was probably one of the most efficient diesels ever built certainly in 320d form

My bmw was a 3 litre 6 cylinder remapped etc it should have been awfull on fuel tbf lol may have to look at getting the merc mapped it may help the way i drive

I think you’ll struggle to get anywhere near the BMWs figures

Check the brakes are not binding on the wheels.
I get 48mpg over a year in my E350CDI.
