Hello all,

I have a Vito 122 sport x which I love however it’s recently become a bit troublesome.

the most recent fault is that one of the plastic swirl flap actuator rods has snapped meaning it’s really down on power and basically undrivable as a result.

I know it’s a big job to replace the part and have advised that whilst the engine is in bits the removal of the swirl flaps altogether will probably be the best option.

the problem is nobody in the north east seems to want to do the job for me, contacted about 7-8 merc specialists and they all say they won’t work on vans despite the engine also being fitted in loads of cars. So can anyone recommend anywhere in the north east that would be willing and able to do the work?

I have also read about the resistor “fix” or “bodge” would this be an option for me or would it not work due to the flaps probably being in the wrong position at the moment or due to the age of my van?

Thanks but that’s a 3 hour drive south from the North East, probably closer to 5 hours in limp home mode.
