Above car, not long had it, having a tow bar fitted today and the mobile tow bar fitter, whilst disassembling the rear of the car to fit the tow bar has found in the offside rear panel in the boot, next to the little battery that is located there, a module (bolted to the battery) with the large plug disconnected.

Everything appears to work in the car, no warning messages or warning lights. We dont want to just plug it back in, in case its disconnected for a reason?

Does anyone know what the control module is? - see Pic.

Thanks
Matt

Always switch your start/stop off the moment you start the engine. It is a gimmick that will ruin your car.

Funnily enough DSK, that's exactly what I do! This is my first car that's had start / stop (had to change my W211 Eclass Estate as it wasn't ULEZ compliant) and I cant quite get used to the unnerving action of the car just switching off when I come to a stop!

Looks like there is a label on the back of the control unit - worth unbolting to see if it has a part number?

I'm guessing that from that it's an Eu6 so has SCR and Adblue?

Hope that's not the dosing control module for the SCR then?
Hi Supernoodle, yes correct, its a 350 BlueTec, Euro 6 with Ad Blue. I havent a clue what the module is, or the reason why its unplugged and my Indie Mechanic is on Holiday this week or I would have run it down to him. Car was scanned during purchase inspection and no codes found.

As Larkone (above) mentioned, the module looks like it has a label on it, when I get home I could unbolt and investigate the part number to try and see what module it is.

I think it’s the adblue module and it’s been disconnected and then coded out.
Good Morning Star, Thanks for your response, assuming this was done by a previous owner, if it is infact the adblue module which has been disconnected and coded out (the car was scanned as part of the purchase to ensure no issues) and no error codes were noted, is this going to cause any issues for the general running of the vehicle? The car has passed MOT's (although not sure when this would have been done).

Lots of issues deleting a required emissions device - insurance could be invalidated because it has been modded and not declared, it's also illegal. You would have recourse if you have been sold un-roadworthy vehicle.

Yeah I knew all of that (Ill go see my Merc Indie next week when hes back off holiday and also contact the garage I bought it from) but I was more interested (if of course it is the adblue module that has been disconnected and its had some sort of adblue delete) if it effects the running of the vehicle - im kinda assuming not?

Smart + others :)
A star test would have shown disconnected module. It will run fine but if anything in drivetrain needs updating, it might reinstall coding for module and then have problems.

connect the vent/drain pipe on your battery - before fumes / splillage make a mess - the morons messed that up too.... the clear pipe slips on to the red elbow
Morning Botus, yep I spotted that to, so did the tow bar fitter who reconnected it when he re assembled the car
