2016 E class E220D diesel engine tickover

Hello: a quick question if i may. Is the tickover on this engine quite noisy or just my perception? I had one before but cannot recall the sound. The engine on this one goes very well and has only 22000 miles on it.

Should be pretty quiet, not like a petrol but still pretty quiet

I had a 2015 c250 0m651 65k. Chelsea tractor on tick over especially with bonnet up.

Nothing like an om642 V6 diesel .

If its a popping sound, your cam followers are likely worn, get it sorted before it turns into a misfire
