I wouldn't be too sure on that. Insurers tend to write off cars that have been flooded, simply because of the potential future problems. My mate bought an AM a while ago that had been flooded and written off. Cheap as chips from copart. All it needed apart from thorough cleaning was a Ford sam unit to sort it out and then coding. He had no problems with it, even though it was an AM.Must be something more than just an engine, otherwise it wouldn't have been written off?

Hadn't thought of that, extremely good point, guess that's relevant if you're intention is to sell it on as you'd probably need to evidence that....They are I might even know one or two with the company I work for
That said, their calculations on flood damage aren’t just about component damage now and in the future but also the health side of cleaning/repairing, they often don’t know the exact details of the “flood” and therefore have to assume it may have contaminated water throughout the car, that leads to needing to strip it out and deep clean/sterilise more than just what you can see, including replacing the entire ventilation system as it’s a breading ground for bacteria anyway.
Bit gutted you didn't get it, I was looking forward to a fascinating restoration post, then giving you 41.5k for it when you'd finishedUpdate:
Bid went up to £39500.00 (I pulled out at £30k), I believe the reserve was not met and the highest offer was subject to acceptance.
I'm not at all surprised at the final bid given the nature of some small garages who have the expertise at a fraction of the cost of independent specialists.
Good feed back from the guys on the forum, thank you!!
Bargains ! Might have had to give him 42k after the restoration then.....Complete engine:
