Depending on age it will have one or two MOT's. Run the reg number through the governments MOT site, it might give you some history & confirm the milage.

I’ve checked the MOT history. Passed both with no advisories. I feel in my gut this car isn’t a sound investment reading from what everyone has helped me with. I’ve put a £250 reserve down they said I need to come and see the car to get it back. It’s a 2 hour drive away.

Talk to your credit card company if necessary they will sort that out for you - obviously not a company to do business with

I always walk away from companies that ask for or accept a deposit so early.... a bit like entrapment. If they were confident in their cars they'd let you see/drive then talk about the deal... and only then put down a deposit.

I've just purchased at the £16k level and the guys were willing to deliver and me pay once it arrived and I was happy.... because they were decent and had confidence in the vehicle.

I know, too many red flags appearing now. I’ve rang up 24 hours later it’s not like I’ve had to reserved for a week. They going to give me a ring back. They put the car up by £500 since I initially contacted them about the car at the start of the week too. Hopefully get my money back and walk away and look for another.

Just bear in mind when looking that the MB franchises have the best cars with a 1 year rock solid guarantee - everything cascades down from there. I went to see a W213 saloon for my son 3 years ago at MB Stoke on Trent which we bought. Couldn’t have been a better experience as part of the deal the dealer replaced all discs and pads (car on 17k miles) as they were noisy and two premium tyres as they were near the wear markers - if you are new to Mercedes it’s a good place to start

Hope you don’t mind me saying so but putting £20k into an 80k miles car isn’t something I would do
THAT - esp that model.

OP you will get better at a merc dealer and of anything is wrong bla bla in repairing and you can haggle the price too.

£20k?? I paid 20,500 for a 45k mile 2017 c250d AMG line pp+ with just abut every option ticked, MB service history, full 4 year service (brakes etc) and new tyres fitted.

I'd keep looking personally , but I recognise the used market is a nightmare right now

Evening everyone, Ive found a 2016 cc220d premium at the merc dealership for 19k with 78k miles, it has full merc service history and is immaculate condition. Ive put a reserve down for this. This has the 7g auto in it? Is there much difference between this and the 9g? Is this a different spec or styling to say a 2017 plate?

Surely you can find a car with less mileage I would be looking at 30-40k miles for that price, admittedly it’s an awful time to be looking dealers have hyped prices of secondhand cars due to a supply problem with new vehicles.

Regarding the 9 speed box it is far superior to the 7 speed

This. As I said In above post, 20k should get uou more for your money..

And yeah, I test drove a 7g, mine is a 9g and the difference in speed and smoothness is very obvious.

i went and seen one today with around 40k miles and it was in poor condition and hadn’t been looked after and was 21k. Personally I’m leaning to more miles with better condition. Is there anything major that needs looking at around the 100k mark?

9G is the bast box about 7G+ is not a bad box, got one on my E350 works fine.
Pre Apr 2017 road tax will only be about £30, where as post Apr 2017 I think is £150.
Second hand cars a fetching silly money at the moment, so I think the 2016 is not a bad deal. Full service history & from a MB dealer is very attractive to me.

I don’t know how urgent this purchase is but it’s much better to watch the market for a few weeks the right car will come along just a little patience required. It took me a few months to find my S212
