Hi there,
Bit of an odd one today. Was pulling out of a tight parking space and had full right lock on. Came to a halt and selected reverse and tried to wind off lock in order to three-point my car out of the way of the surrounding cars. The steering was totally resistant to movement for a few seconds and finally gave with a fairly abrupt movement. There wasn’t a grate under the wheel nor had I turned the tyre into another car so am a little bemused.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? My concern was the pressure I was applying against the resistance might have caused some damage/strain.

All thoughts gratefully received.

Cheers,

Just emailed the dealership at the same time. Just thought I’d ask on here in the meantime!

such a new car pal and rare on here so unless its common the C class no mater which model then you may only get spit balling , I take it that's the 4x4 version with being an S ?

No,

Rear drive on the C63s, very much so in the rain!

Thanks for the advice, will get onto the dealer tomorrow morning.

ok pal , I know some 4x4 cars can have odd steering characteristics when 4x4 equipped , keep us posted but I think they will fob you off unless you can prove it

I would suspect you may have accidentally activated the automatic parking function if the wheel was resisting your inputs. I'm certainly not suggesting it's your error, but I'd rather mention it now than you go into the dealer and they try to tell you you're an idiot ;)

That did cross my mind but it wasn’t trying to put any inputs of its own in. As for being an idiot, that’s my default setting!

I had a similar issue a couple of weeks ago on my 2017 C300h AMG line, full right hand lock selected reverse and the steering went solid.

I put it down to a glitch, but will keep an eye on it as I still have 8 months warranty left.
