Good Afternoon all

I am looking for a little help with my above issue. I seem to have an intermittent issue with the rear facing camera where the camera will work but the cuts out to the Camera not working icon on the dash. Along with this the badge that the camera sits behind pops back in. I have temp fix for it by putting the car in park and then put back into reverse. Along with this i have noticed that from behind the badge when i turn the car off i get a grinding noise from where the camera pops out from. I can feel this in the badge if i touch the badge.

My question is has anyone seen this before and how did you resolve the issue.

Thank you in advance

Hello and welcome,

I'd be cleaning and lubricating the mechanism - sounds like it's got dirty and struggling

I used to switch on my cameras when getting the car washed - A) so I could check the pre-wash was acceptable and B) so the rear camera got a wash.
Surprising (or not) how much dirt, salt and crud gets into and on it.

On an R the camera is permanently exposed. I'm amazed how infrequently it needs cleaning. The only issue is that when it's raining it's absolutely useless due to drops of water all over the lens.
