hey, I must be getting old. After posting and seeing your reply, later I remembered I'd found a comand manual for USA region... then had an odd recollection I'd seen 3D maps. Just opened it and it shows menus where they got bird's eye ???

So does that mean your one is a version or two out of date and it was added later in its life?

You are correct. It was a setting I hadn't found yet!

yes, but it gets far more of where you are going on screen - so you zoom less and see more.
the bit where you are, is much bigger and there's 20 miles of road in front, not 50 yards ending up hitting the cd player

if you've been suffering the flat 50 yards of progress, tipping it over is an absolute revelation - can't stand my fathers flat map - you can't see any traffic info at 80mph or what the next three towns coming up are

Must try this in the SLK, where I have the NTG2.5 2019 last set of maps installed. Will also look at the NTG4 in the S204 - but don't think it's also there!

looking at the menus both layout, look, colours etc. NTG2.5 looks like an minor update on NTG3.0 *which makes a fair bit of sense NTG3 was latest tech in 2006.

I'm guessing you can add in a DAB module to the 2.5 comand via fibre

Indeed you can. We offer it via the in2digi tuner with full factory look and feel for £499 installed. The real benefit is that it gives you DAB+ which the factory tuner doesnt. It also works well in the earlier NTG4 cars that are limited to DAB aswell.

An old B-Class.
Which is stupid & virtually unenforceable. There are plenty of things already in a car to distract you. What's the difference between touching a touch screen radio/sat-nav & a phone?
Plenty evidence to show that having a conversation (hands free or not) or texting on the phone is a massive distraction. I’m sure you’ve driven behind a car and have been able to deduce that the owner is on the phone - speed changes, drifting in the lanes etc. I do agree that there are other distractions in the car but not on the level of having a phone conversation.

And that's what's on my wishlist....

I need to speak to you about it after new year @Alfie

Sure you dont have it, shows up by pressing the radio button a few times.
It does give a few nice extra stations mind!
Definitely doesn't. It's the one thing missing I really wanted.

However there seems to be some fun confusing things - the firmware updates creates new options or changes that MUST be coded.
In 09/29 and the one before it, the options which need coding are
a) Econonical routing mode (ok, so you could just not have this)
b) Fader - this must be set back to ON or you get no fader.

The economical route is a feature of the 2019 update for which you need 09/29....

I'd need a working Vediamo before I could play with that but given I'm already on the latest firmware there's no need to try either!

You definately need the 09\29 update to install the last 2018\19 maps to NTG2.5 - despite my 2008 SLK having been serviced by them for about 6 years after MB North Wales supplied it, that FOC update had not been installed so comand.co.uk had to do it for me - and it was not FOC! Thankfully I'd bought a set of "second user" DVD's (and later sold them on) so that aspect was not too expensive! However, since MB will not be issuing any further updates to 2.5, it's debateable whether it's worth spending any money on comand NTG2.5 instead of replacing the entire unit with something more up to date. I'm also starting to wonder about the NTG4 in the S204 as that also has the "latest" maps - again 2018-19 - and although I was told MB would still be issuing updates after comand.co.uk updated my installation (early NTG4 with the HDD partition too small for updates after 2015), and installed 2018-19 at the same time, I've not seen anything about a more up to date maps update!

I checked the software on my NTG2.5 and am a little confused as one screen has 09/29 and the second 08/47???
