Just noticed it's warm outside and my display seems to be stuck at 13 degrees C. Tried putting hair dryer in front of sensor for a minute and it doesn't vary the temperature at all, so l guess its gone.
Does anyone know if this is usually the sensor at the front of the car ?
Doesn't seem to affect the car running at all but l wonder whether this not working might affect cold starting in winter or hot running in summer. Does the engine management ecu take any info from here or is it based on coolant temperature?

I'd expect the outside temp sensor to just be used for the outside temp display or possibly have an effect on the climate control too. Engine ECU will just use the coolant temp sensor

Thanks Emilys Dad. Sort of what l thought.
Anyway maybe I'm being a numpty. Just went to the car again and it said 18 degrees which is about right. I think l remember reading that the reading is damped in order to prevent sudden fluctuations, so maybe it takes longer than l thought to level out ? I don't remember it ever taking so long to settle before and I've owned the car for 11 years. I'll keep an eye on it for now.

It shouldn't affect anything else.
When they go bad it's very obvious, as the value displayed is way off.
