Hi Everyone,
Apologies if this is posted somewhere else (I cant find anything) but I am purchasing a 2020 300d GLC with the Premium Package and am looking to upgrade the Hi-Fi part of the entertainment system to at least the quality of the Baumeister System which is standard in Premium Plus packages, can anyone point me in the right direction or have any suggestions please?
Many Thanks

Looking at your location, Basingstoke, you need to speak with Comandonline in Frimley, 30 minutes drive away. They are forum supporters, speak to Alfie. Search forum supporters for their contact details.

+1 for the guys at Lightwater. If anyone can do it, they can but it won’t be cheap. I can vouch for Burmester but @Alfie and the guys can probably offer other ideas to improve the quality of the base system.

most stereo's respond to far better amplification, a good amp is costly and expensive. cars usually have one 40% fit for purpose on a good day and 60% fit on the hi end upgraded stuff.

lots of equipment now gets away with pathetic amplification due to digital compression where they stole all the life out of music and a 20% fit for purpose amp can sound OK to untrained ears / at lowish volumes levels. If the music starts to sound very average at 50% vol that you tend to wind it up more, so the vol hides the mess, the amp is your problem.

a sensible upgrade path

AMP
woolly muddled garbage getting worse as vol increases
transient response of quality music throws it in a tail spin and the speakers rattle

SPEAKERS
nasty cheap undefined treble

SOURCE
hard work on modern cars as so much is integrated, can be sensible on old stuff

WIRES
destroying looms and trim to change is really only for crazy installs

To be honest, unless there is a specific reason for buying the car you have found, it will almost certainly be a LOT cheaper to hold out and look for a car with Premium Plus. It is normally far more expensive to retro-fit stuff than the price difference second hand (and also new) between the trim levels.
