My 2021 A200 A 200 AMG navigation incorrectly displays road legal speed limit as 70mph in a 30mph! Has anyone come across this? Any help would be appreciated.
The information on the screen can be out of date and also picked up from incorrect sources (thinking you're on the motorway). The systems that read the road signs can also get it wrong. Best option is look out the windscreen and use the signs and clues as to the road speed.
n.b. An error on the system won’t be a valid defence against a speeding ticket…
All sat navs use static information. If the data changes between when the data was loaded and when you use it it will be different to what you encounter.
I had a similar issue after the last map update. It suddenly showed a speed limit of 60 on a 40 in one direction but the correct speed in the other direction, that has since corrected itself. It also shows roads as 40 that had their speed decreased to 30 4 years ago.
The actual map data is also well out of date. It shows a local golf course that closed down 8 years ago.
if no one tells them something is incorrect it will never get fixed... we all have a responsibility to support and do our bit, it will, as it has, all fall apart if we just expect
I'd start with an update - just because it says 2021 model year car it doesn't mean it wasn't built and or various components weren't built from Aug 2020
and never expect a dealership to get it to current software iteration, ready for a customer delivery in Dec 2021
I complained to the NL customer service lot about many Nav issues that were clearly omitted on the latest release in 2018 - they argued via multiple emails they don't care - when I pointed out the should, they said fill out the sat nav feedback form... So I went to two dealers, NEITHER had ever heard of it - one took 6 months to come back saying they can't find it - the other did managed to locate it and sent it to me after 4 days
when I sent 4 completed forms back to NL customer services - they wrote back saying what do you think we want this for ? - so I spoon fed back a story about the manufacturer's European customer service head office ought to know a little better how Mercedes own internal channels of communication operate than a customer would - so of course they did the right thing, and just stopped producing maps for most of their cars in 2019
there ought to be later form - but I think this was created when there was a thing called customer service, and responsibility still meant something - It seems in the new improved world we have now, the idea is next year you should just lease another car and hope it has newer maps
