210 ignition probs

hi new to the site looking for some advicebought a e320 cdi last month been fine but yesterday got turned key engine turned over but didnt start straight away today got in key wont turn at all any help please :-x

Hello and welcome, with the all plastic key, try leaving it in the ign switch for up to 90 mins and try again

It does not need to turn,just put it in and leave it for 90 mins. Is the car battery in good order

got a brand new battery on it

no still wont turn over and the remote wont open the doors now

There are 2 parts to the key, the locking runs on the batteries in the remote, when the key is in the ignition lock its powered from the cars battery and uses a different part of the key

I will see what else I have but it is looking as though the ign lock has failed

have left the key in ignition over night and no difference how much is a new ignition anyone

Around £400 and you use your existing key, no other way fopr the all plastic EIS ignition lock

Hi there can anyone advice what I can do my car was stolen using the key (broke into house) the car has been recovered un damaged i still have spare key however the thief does too what can I do to resolve this? can it be coded or something oops for to say its a c class 180 (2003) plastic fob

Hello and welcome,,thats rotten. I have heard it said that MB can kill off any outstanding keys, please check with MB as thís is a difficult area, it may mean changing the ignition lock and getting 2 spare keys. Would not your house insurance cover this as it was taken from the house and not the car
