MB do do a seal kit - reasonably priced too - at least they do for W124s. I fitted a kit at the same time as I did the discs and pads on my car. I fitted the kit, not because there was a leak or any sticking in the calipers, but, because I wanted to be sure the calipers were clean and well lubricated, and thus fit for further service.

Someone posted last week on a 203 and they were told no parts.

Oh super. ;-)
I am hoping that the leak will sort itself out once the piston has moved back out a bit - obviously it was pushed all the way in at the time.
I'll give it a week and then pull the wheel back off and have a look. If I do need a new caliper I'll probably let an indie do it - I don't mind playing with the mechanicals and electricals but hydraulics scare me, especially where brakes are involved. If I did it, I'd always have that worry that I didn't do something right and a pipe is about to blow off.

Well done Jberks!

I know you've bottled it in the past and had the brakes done professionally. You used an interesting technique to defeat the SBC - I usually just pull the SBC leads plug off?
How many miles has the old girl done now?
And what mileage did you get out of the last pads/disc?

Thanks.
Yes you're right, I did bottle last time. Well remembered. I was faced with quotes of £250-£300 and when I could get the bits for £100 and as I'm still clawing my way back up from 4 1/2 months downtime this year, I figured £200 was worth getting my fingers dirty for.

I almost pulled the SBC plug off (I did actually get as far as lifting the catch), it was just what Malcolm said about it still being alive that bothered me and I put it back down again. Sods law I'd blow something and turn a £200 saving into a £1500 bill.
I thought about disconnecting the batteries and this was my plan as I walked out to the car, but then I went through the pain of reprogramming the windows, seats etc in my head and decided against. So in the end I thought, stuff it. Give it long enough to nod off and it should be fine. After all, I suspect this is how most are done in the real world.

She's up to 85,000 miles now. According to the trip computer, its roughly 2000 hours sitting there. At least behind that wheel is a nice place to be. When you look at it like that, an E class is well worth it.
Not sure exactly how many miles I got but I believe the disks were original and its the second set of pads, the first set being installed not that long after I bought the car. I think the first set were changed around 25k so 50-60k from the pads. Pretty good though to be fair, when you're doing lots of motorway miles, its not unreasonable.
Given that I ran it for another 17,000 miles after the dealer first declared the pads ready for change, and they still had a couple of thousand left in them when I pulled them out, it probably means I could have had 40k out of the first set if I'd had the inclination.

This is quite strange.

I'm not sure that this is exactly the right page for the OP, but, it's for a 211 E270 CDI

http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...GM=716.649&CT=F&cat=64V&SID=42&SGR=030&SGN=01

The part number 10 comes up as a repair kit on the inchcape site at about £300. I suspect this is the price for a replacement caliper, and you'll get the new mounting bolts with it, so, MB call it a kit.

Using the same logic as on the equivalent parts page for my W124, the part number 110 with the spanner symbol should be the repair kit for the caliper - but, I get nothing back from the inchcape site about that part number.

My guess is that repair kits do exist, but, MB have let Frank Spencer enter the details onto the computer!

p.s. if the caliper is already leaking, I wouldn't recommend a kit anyway; replacement caliper is, alas, the proper repair.

I had just less than 63K miles from my first set of pads (& front discs) I never used to get beyond ~33K in the W210 for pads and ~65K for discs. Not sure on the difference between the two I don't think I've altered my braking habits.

I know what you mean about the hours sat behind the wheel, I check mine regularly and work out how many weeks I've been sat there. To me that is the whole point in having my E class so I spend that time in comfort rather than purgatory.
