230 Se 1981

I have been offered a friends mint condition Mercedes 280SE. The car has been in his family since new, serviced by Mercedes and has 53,000 miles on the clock. We want to agree a price but have had trouble finding comparisions. It has been garaged all its life and only used at the weekend in good weather. Can anyone give us an idea of an estimated valuation?. I am a classic Jaguar owner and have very little knowledge of this class. Thanks! it is a 280 not a 230.

Is it a W126 model (I would imagine so if its an '81)

The 280 SE S-Class will have cost around £15,300 when new. I would expect to pay around £2500/3000 for a good low mileage example.
Maybe some classic car owners would know better though.
