230 TE auto gearbox

91 model 110,000 miles the car will engage reverse gear but will not drive in any forward gear this doesnt sound like a linkage problem as neutral and park are ok.
Fluid levels are also ok.
Any Ideas

Hi Brian,

Bad news I am afraid. Its more than likely the brake band broken (B2 to be exact). You will have felt nothing no bangs or anything. Just got up one morning. No forward drive. There are a couple of seals in the bottom of the box which could cause a similar problem. Even if it is these seals. The box has to be stripped.

Wait I hear you say! I got reverse so it can't be anything serious.
The reason you still have reverse. Is because reverse is at the front of the box, and works completely independantly of the forward gears.

I am afraid its just unlucky. As far as I am aware in all the repairs we have carried out. No body has ever said there were any signals or signs before the failure.
