Hi,
I put my 230CE into storage for 18 months and find it now has a misfire off idle and during early acceleration. Idle is fine and it runs cleanly at higher engine speeds, though performance seems not as good as I remember (but I've been driving a more powerful car lately). The problem is sporadic and often seems to be initiated when taking right hand bends. The HT leads look fine. One other thing, when the engine stumbles a drivebelt screeches. All ideas on what the problem might be much appreciated.

I think he was reffering to the screeching, but no nothing to do with that. fuel pumps do not like being unused, but this would not effect just above idle. is it ok when warm

Try checking the engine at night - to see if there are any sparks from the HT leads or dizzy cap. This is what was causing a misfire on my w123 280 CE, even though the leads looked fine visually.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm pretty sure it's not HT leads or the fuel pump, but I can't get to the car just at the moment to check out these ideas. I'll let you know how I get on.
