Hi
Just bought my third W124 (1990230CE) and it came with 16 inch alloys (8 hole - standard look) which I think ruin the aesthetics of the car. I am very keen to replace them with the 'proper' size alloys/tyres but don't have a clue who to speak to - google/ebay etc havent thrown up anything so I am stuck.

Two questions:

1 - Does anyone know what the standard tyre size is for this car? I believe it is one of the first facelifted 124's so should the 8 hole alloys rather than the ones before that.
2 - Does anyone know where I can go to source replacement wheels and alloys?

Thanks very much

I am also in Berkshire whereabouts are you ?

I am surprised you feel it stands out - the differenc between 15 (standard wheel) and 16.

I am also surprised your 1990 car is a facelift model - it must have been modfied with newer parts along with the wheels.

8 hole wheels would not have been fitted to a 1990 car.

They came in with the E320 and E220 models of around 1993 onwards.

The standard 8 hole wheel for the 124 is 6.5x15 with different ET figs as the ET changed with later cars due to bigger 4 pot calipers being fitted to some models.

There was also a sportline version also 15 inches but at 7 inches was slightly wider.

The part number of the 15x6.5 wheel is B664 70085

What is the part number of your wheels ?

Alloys follow up

Thanks. I think I was being inaccurate - it's a 1991 on an H plate - it had a private plate when I bought it which threw me off... I believe this was one of the first facelfited W124's and was imported from Germany. It's a UK spec though - to be honest I don't really understand the history!!

I'm in Woodley. You?

The wheels are horrible on the car - they look too rude boy and also I am sure they affect the handling of the car (It feels very slippery, and in the wet it doesn't actually feel safe), as well as rubbing the arches over bumps dips in the road. I need to get it sorted asap.

Not sure on the details of the tyres - will check and let you know.

Cheers
