Hi, went to buy a nice CLK230 cabrio fsh, 117,000, runs smoothly but when I floored the accelerator nothing happened, then it started to run fairly rough but still ok at tick over. chap said it was probably because it had been sitting but then admitted this happened intermitently...feels like fuel starvation. should In buy it?????

Kick down is governed by throttle cable to potentiometer under bonnet. It must reach full throttle, may need adjusting. There may be a clicker under the pedal, it's just a clicker, it clicks when you get to the floor. Pretty sure its not a switch ;-)

ECU reset - get in and close doors, put throttle to floor and turn key to no.2 position (not start), wait ~2 seconds, release throttle and turn key to no.0 (off), do not remove key, do not open door, do not operate any electrics, wait 2 minutes. Also check the W/S gearbox mode. W=fast, S=omg.

Rough running is a greater concern.
