Well done indeed. Just to confirm 230k, the miles you have done at 230k were done by you, 230k, in your E class but not in your 230k- which has now been sold. I do hope that's clear.:)
What is especially interesting is that the E class in question is a 210 series from 1998, which many regard as the period when Merc were cutting costs (and therefore quality) to survive against low cost producers. How have you fared on the issue of rust and repair costs over that huge mileage?

Is it common for people to photograph their dashboard whilst driving at 70mph in the dark?

Better add this one to the mobile phone ban thinks I.

That sounds like a bit of a challenge.

I usually carry my camera with me, you never know what you are going to see.

Consider this picture taken during the G8 summit when some people decided to dangle themselves of a motorway bridge...

Did Mercedes pay for the rust work?

230k, that sounds a bit like the line in "only fools and horses" where trigger points out that he's had the same broom for 20 years. "of course it's had 5 new heads and 3 new handles in that time"....:D

I guess the question should be, how much of your car has done 230k? Not much by the sounds of it.

Welldone! UK Merc owners really should petition Mercedes for High Mileage awards, like they get in the States.

Congratulations 230K

Your list of maintenance items makes interesting reading, rust apart. Considering a lot of people see the 210 a bit of a lemon (not me, I might add) your passage to 230K seems to have been fairly trouble free.

Is the car good for 500K, and will you take it there? At 230/8 thats 29K per yr, another 8 yrs should about do it.
