My 230TE has had the engine cut out completely whilst driving along normally at about 40mph. First thing you notice is that when you press the accelerator to speed up nothing happens. There are no warning lights on, and the cars steers and brakes normally. It gradually comes to a stop, but just before it does all the warning lights come on, just as if you turned the key to start it.
Once it comes to a stop, it restarts straight away as if nothing was wrong.
The only clue I have is that during the glide to a stop I pressed the accelerator a few times to try to start it, and the fuel economy gauge dipped into the red with each press - I guess this maybe indicates that fuel is still flowing, ruling out the fuel pump.
My mind thinks fuel filter, electrical fault, or engine management - but I'm no expert, hence the post.
It's only done it twice in 10K, but I'd hate for it to happen at 80mph in the outside lane!
Any help appreciated.
