Hi, I have a 1992 230TE and if I park on a hill and it rains, when I get back to the car the driver's seat is wet. I have seen the water dripping from the trim above the windscreen, so I take it that is coming from the sunroof somewhere. Is there some drains in the sunroof that are blocked and if so where? Or is there another reason and a cure

Has to be sunroof drains, I would think. There are two at the front of the sunroof opening and, I believe, two at the back - but I've never found them. AFAIK the drain pipes run down the A & B pillars

you seem to have guessed the cause

one slight and easy fix is to apply with your finger, just a thin smear of black silicone sealant all the way around the sunroof aperture, after cleaning it up as best you can. wait for it to dry, and then close the roof. If it doesn't close easily, you've got it on too thick. That will keep more water out. You can also gently probe the drainage channels with a suitable bit of wire. Note the gently bit. Have a good search on here for sunroof or drainage and see what pops up. I take it the problem is if you park down hill. That means front right drainage channel is suspect.

Hi Brian,, the under trays on the sun roofs do rust through, though there are some drain holes that you could check.

To remove or get to the under tray, it means dropping the head lining, and that is no easy feat

There are post here on the forum for repairing them

Thank you

Thanks for the quick replies I will check these and yes it is only when I park down hill so I will look for the front drain holes. I did have a quick look at the week end but they weren't obvious. Thanks again

If you look on the link it may help,, you can see the ones going down the A pillar and I think that they come out just under the car under the fire wall,,the rear ones go down in front of the wheel arch and should be visible under the car
