The footrest on my 204 is a long way down. I've driven quite a few automatics and never had a problem before.
For my "comfortable" position for my right foot my left foot does not reach the footrest, meaning I have to have the seat further forward making it uncomfortable for my right foot on the accelerator.

I'm over 6 feet tall.

The other thing I notice is that the footrest cover is just normal carpet, again most of the cars I have owned have some sort of metal or rubber rest.
I'm wondering if they've forgotten to fit a cover?

Any, assuming all is as standard I need to build up the rest by about 40mm. I've tried withe a loose piece of wood and it works. How can I fix it permanently? Self tappers? I don't want to screw into the rest if there is something vital underneath.

Lifting the carpet is not easy as it means seats out, there will not be any wires to the right of the transmission tunnel where you left foot rest ,,,drilling holes is not good, neither is cutting the carpet , these modern polyurethane adhesives would glue it to the carpet, but again you would not get it off again, but there again if you shaped the wood nicely and covered it in something it probably would look just fine and it could be left there

Thank you both.
I think velcro is the way to go.

the AMG kits have these type of rests so must be a standard fixing?

Both my cars had the aluminium/rubber pedals fitted as standard but the foot rest was simply carpet
