Planning to buy an SL320, probably a model made between 1996 and 2000 and with a mileage of 40,000 or less. I am mechanically astute but would nevertheless appreciate any suggestions as to what specifically to look for and also what optional extras are worthwhile. Are there any advantages in opting for a later model?
I have already noticed that some cars suffer from corrosion at the rear quarter of the hardtop and my local car spares shop reckons that late cars could be affected by corrosion in the doors and in "the front U crossmember" (wherever that is).
One vendor has emphasised the value of a panoramic roof and extolled the virtues of memory seats; having never enjoyed either of these luxuries, I'd value an opinion from someone who has.
