It is the Mercedes 30 day exchange guarantee, they state that if you are disatisfied with the car (for any reason) within 30 days of purchase they will find you another car of same spec, mileage, age etc and provide a no quibble exchange.
I have spoken to my dealership and they are absolutely cool with it, they are as we speak sourcing me the same car but diesel version. Totally amazed.
Hi, Bought a second hand car from Mercedes Watford last week (2011 plate on 8000 miles on E220cdi) and unfortunately did not like it and asked if it could be changed. Wanted a slightly more powerful motor (E250cdi) as I find this one lacking in a number of areas (esp compared to my BMW 5 series). The Sales executive came back late in the day to say that this was not a valid excuse for an exchange and the matter will have to be discussed with their sales manager to see if he approves. Definitely get the impression that there is some wriggling going on as he said it would be extremely expensive to get another on exchange. So a little lost as I am not sure if the Mercedes Watford group have a 30 day exchange policy and will honour such a pledge. Asking them but their response to emails is measured and slow.
New owner who has just moved from BMW 5 series. So looking for help on this matter. Do I just live with it or have I got a remedy.
What did they say when you bought the car? They made a big thing of the exchange deal when I bought mine but that was a while ago now and things may have changed. Did they tell you there was a no quibble exchange deal or are you going on what's said on here?

What you are looking for is an upgrade - "Wanted a slightly more powerful motor"
Sadly MB Watford must be the worst dealer in the UK, when my friends new S class went into the limp home mode last week they told him that they could not pick it up or deal with it till the end of this month
We get many complaints on here about them, what you might call "not user friendly"
I see no reason why they would be unwilling to take more money off you to upgrade. May be worth a call to mb customer services. On the same spec bit, I understood you could even change models.
Thanks for your comments. Also can someone tell me how E220cdi coupe sport fares when stacked up to e250cdi sport saloon. Would value comments from owners who have experience of these two models.
Merc Watford is definitely wriggling. Why is the 30 day no quibble guarantee offered then? So far experience is a little flat with merc dealer.
M.Watford, didn't talk about but it is in all of the contracts signed. Not sure whether it is a no quibble because they are giving the impression that there are strict terms and conditions attached. So far this is a bad experience into the MB scene. Have asked them about what centre stock is available for exchange but website has nothing amazing and one or two are way above my budget. No way wife is going to agree to paying any more. We are in a recession. Sales want to go over the fine print. If my experience is anything to go by my advice to newcomers is forget this policy simply because it may not be worth the paper. Just take your time and test the car thoroughly as you would a banger from the garage saleman down the road. Also read all car reviews carefully . A bit like going on eBay to check the sellers ratings. Finally check that the multipoint assessment is carried out by the centre. I was not provided with a paper about this even though all mb sites say that this is done on all approved used cars.
The 250 diesel engine is spectacular for a little 4 cylinder. You'd thank yourself for making the dealer's life hard for a couple of weeks to end up with one.
I had this issue a few years ago with another manufacturer/dealer. Since the actual sales contract is with the dealer I searched their website for a car of roughly the same value.
When I found another car I could live with I made an appointment to see the dealer principal and sat in his office with the info. and did a deal.
