Need some more info on this one, ie is it steering shake, what speeds etc etc.

If it happens to be a steering shake that kicks in about 60mph and then disappears at 85mph, its likely to be your steering damper. This is a known weak spot on the W124's and they are cheap and easy to replace.

They can only last about 40,000 miles.

If its vibration whilst at idle, which then goes away as you drive off, it could be your engine mounts which have given up the ghost

Steering damper, as mentioned above is the next most liley, but also check engine and gearbox mounts, propshaft centre bearing and UJ's etc.

Vibration

I had the same vibration problem, it turned out to be a bad propshaft bearing. When I replaced it I also replaced the rear coupler joint,it looked wore-out. I found the problem by trying to move the shaft up and down. It did which vibrates the car. Good Luck

Maybe worth adding wheel bearings to the list of things to check.

Hi there and thanks again for the info, have checked the wheel bearings back and front and they are fine, replaced the front coupling on the prop as it was worn, checked the rear one as well and thats fine, cant feel any play in the centre bearing though, is it possible to replace the centre bearing without taking off the exhaust, if so will change that as well just in case.....
