My wife Margie and myself were lucky enough to purchase a 1992 model 300E-24 we are the 3rd owners of this vehicle and it has only traveled 62000.KM.

We brought this from a retired friend of ours who is considered a Mercedes freak, this was his 28th Mercedes that he has owned and the third car we have purchased through him this vehicle has been immaculately maintained and after speaking to him today on the phone, we cannot work out the problem that follows:

The sunroof will open but will not close to the full position. My friend Peter in the time that he owned the vehicle has never opened the roof to it's full extent but only lifted the back edge to release hot air, I am guessing that when I opened the roof for the first time and retracted it fully this could have been one of the first few times the roof has been opened.

Our local European agent is saying that it is a mechanical problem, not electrical and is thinking that the inside hood lining should be dropped and the mechanical system for the roof checked over fully. I am hesitant to do this because of the condition of this vehicle and because of the lack of operation of the roof in the past.

Has any body any information that may shed light on this problem?
