Hi, can anyone tell me how to remove my wooden center console on the 129 300 sl 1992 as i dont want to break it. I seem to be able to get the back edge a bit loose but dont know where its screws or fixings are and it looks like its been forced before judging by all the stress merks on the corners of the veneer. Any help appreciated thanks david.

Take out the 4 screws in the glove box top edge and the compartment lifts out, you will see two screws in the bottom and the outer box will lift so the you can get to the two rear scews

I think he means the wood veneered section around the gear selector / radio / air con controls, Malcolm. Its been covered a couple of times but I cant find it and I have done it myself but cant remember how I did it ! - apart from - remove radio, remove air con control unit and remove the lining from the cubby hole in front of the gear selector and undo the 2 screws underneath the lining, lift the back up slightly and pull backwards to the rear of the car - i think that roughly covers it?

Age is a wonderful thing David, I have done it many times, but I think that you are correct
