Mercedes 300SL-24 1991
hi all
My mechanic has told me i need my exhaust replaced on my car, a 1991 300sl-24. Its the original exhaust so its had a good innings - i didnt know exhausts lasted so long!

The cost from Mercedes for a new one is horrific. Obviously.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a new system? My mechanic has given me a couple of companies to contact - ones that might be able tyo produce one to 'OEM spec' i guess - and i've just dropped the SL shop an email.
If I have to bite the bullet and buy from Mercedes then so be it, but i just thought i'd check to see if i have any alternatives.

cheers
dani

Depends how original you want to keep it.

If originality is no concern then try talking to a Powerflow stockist. They can make one up in stainless from scratch and I've found their pricing quite good.

Ant at ARO exhausts is highly recommended.

Get the original MB part numbers. Then see what you can find online. Eberspaecher is a good manufacturer and I got middle and rear sections for my 300-24 for about 450€ for both, versus about 1500 for MB.

The catalyst is another issue. Do you have one? If so, get the MB part number and Google. I struck lucky and found a genuine one for 500€ delivered to the door, versus a list price of 2500. ****** lucky. Otherwise, aftermarket solutions are available but I have no knowledge, sorry.

Good hunting.

Mild steel exhausts , galvanised pipe but welded after being coated so you need to protect the welds with something. Used these years ago for my 90 e300d w124 and a full system was around £160 about ten years ago.
KLARIUS (Germany , but stock in Northampton Uk ) is the name that springs to mind but there are others , Polish manufacturers were everywhere on eBay but it seems Brexit has slowed them up. All are cheap and the fit is excellent.
