Hi all.

Anyone experienced a fuel leak on a 300TE?

The leak appears to be just forward of the rear axle (in close proximity to the rear axle load sensor) after the pump has activated (so is under pressure) and continues for a while after running.

It is, confusingly, intermittent.

I have also experienced two occasions where power has gone at 40 - 50 Mph, no throttle response but eco gauge registers throttle position, could this be related to pressure loss or is it the fuel pump relay?

Just ordered the manuals (Haynes and Brooklands) so will be re-honing my rusty mechanic skills!

I know that the 123 series has a fuel tank breather just by the fixing to the right hand side of the subframe. You might find the breather assembly in the spare wheel well is not functioning correctly.

Thanks Tim, I'll give it a try!

If the torch battery goes flat will a candle do?!

I'm waiting on delivery of a manual so help like this is really appreciated.

Now fixed - metal moth invasion!

This has now been rectified, thanks for the help!

The problem (for future reference) was the fuel return pipe had corroded.

Replaced with a suitable lenght of rubber hose by my local MB specialist.

You may be interested to know that there is a Mercedes breakers on the road between Royston and Duxford. It is very near to the animal crematory (Yuk) but on the other side of the road behind a wall of everygreen trees with a London cab sitting on the top. You'll see what I mean.
