Assuming all the connections are airtight, just keep cranking the engine, it does take ages for the system to self bleed....no need to slacken any pipes.
If you renewed the fuel filter it is recommended to manually fill up the filter with diesel before fitting it to facilitate bleeding.

Hi, Thamks for that but have now tried both ways and still no joy!, dont know what Im doing wrong!.
When turning over the fuel travels partialy up pipe which ends with the switch type thingy at the end, but then drops back and the pipe which feeds the common rail does not fill at all but they have diesel in them close to the pump, there is disel moving along pipe from filter but that too drops back, been at it for about eight hours now, getting cheesed off!........I wonder is air still getting in, or is pump faulty?..But would it have ran before, although needed easy start to start towards the end just prior to changing lines but once fired ran superb. Any further help would be gratefuly recieved, Many Thanks.

any fuel around the high pressure pump, i have changed a shed load in last few months, leaking and sucking in air!! if you needed easy start before you changed the pipe and now its worse, well one the same fault is still there, two, you have touched something to make it worse, still think pump a good maybe, get some ptfe tape, remove each pipe in turn wrap a bit round each seal, and try in turn, good way of finding air leaks on them crap joints!!

Cheers for that, I guess you mean where the o rings are?..if so do you mean ptfe over the o rings or remove and put in groove where o ring sits and then replace?...you say i may have touched something, if so what might I have touched to make it worse as only messed with lines, nothing else. cheers.

Do the lines have little horseshoe clips on, and are they out as they're supposed to be (not in)?
