380 SE No lights in dials!

I have just bought a 380 se 1981 vintage and the lighting behind the speedo etc and heater controls do not work. The fuse is OK. Any ideas/ help please?

Make sure you panel dimmer is turned up,nos.56&59 in this diag;http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...&L=765.706&CT=F&cat=287&SID=54&SGR=585&SGN=11 .Looks like is protrudes through the bottom left of the panel,turn it all the way clockwise.
